Buying an existing Hairdressing, Beauty and Body Art Business
When you buy an existing Hairdressing, Beauty and Body Art business, we advise you to organise an inspection of the premises under the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2009 prior to negotiating the purchase.

A report will be provided within 10 working days.
If you are buying a business that has an ongoing registration for any of these: hairdressing, makeup, spray tans, facial or body treatments, the business cannot be transferred, as it requires the proprietor to have a one-off, ongoing registration. Please follow Setting up a New Business Guidelines

Please note: Massage, saunas, flotation tanks, gymnasium equipment and alternative therapies do not require registration with Council's Health Unit. Read more: Physical therapies – infection prevention and control.
*Other permits may be required, for example Town Planning.

Approvals and permits
Council now offers a streamlined online single application form and specialist customer service through a Business Application Officer to assist you up front and throughout your permit process (checklists and tools to guide you through assessing and applying for the right permits). Payment
Relevant fees apply to each permit. The Business Application Officer will arrange payment after you have completed the online application.

The 'Request for Inspection Form' is not a part of the Single Application Form. It should be lodged separately and include relevant fee.
