Flavours’ Virtual Dinner Party
Saturday 27 February 2021
5.30pm - 7.30pm
Meet Nige, your host for a very special evening of cooking, conversation and eating. Follow Nige as he embarks on a cooking adventure, reminiscing on his Tamil heritage and his childhood in Sri Lanka.
Nige has a story to tell. It involves spending the first 6 of his 10 years living in Australia as a refugee in detention on Christmas Island. After a escaping a civil war, travelling through Malaysia and Indonesia, and enduring more than 1 treacherous boat journey, he still had no guarantee he would ever arrive.
Now supported and encouraged by his community in Melbourne, Nige has learned English, created a home and forged friendships. He is both host and our special guest at a memorable Flavours Virtual Dinner Party – to which everyone is invited.
Join us and Nige, as we showcase some of his priceless recipes – the mementos he travelled with from his early life in a fishing village in eastern Sri Lanka.
Menu:
- Eggplant and chickpea curry
