The City of Monash Australia Day celebrations will take place at the Monash Civic Centre on Australia Day, Saturday 26 January.
Australia Day celebrations will begin with a Flag Raising Ceremony, Welcome to Country by Wurundjeri Elder Ian Hunter and an address by Australia Day Ambassador, Ms Marion Lau OAM JP, followed by a special Citizenship Ceremony.
- 10am: Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony
- 11am-2pm: Free community BBQ and entertainment
After the official proceedings, head outside to the Glen Waverley Library forecourt to enjoy some activities and entertainment. Keep an eye and ear out for Uptown Brown who will be roving around with his one man band.

Children and families can relax on a beanbag and enjoy a puppetry show, bush dance and join in a ukulele workshop.
The Ashwood Lions Club will prepare a delicious free bush tucker BBQ and Babou will be making freshly pressed juices. Children can also enjoy face painting and other fun activities.

Head into the Library for storytime and a craft activity that highlights the things we love about Australia.
2pm - Family History:
Under the Southern Cross: tips on how to research your Australian ancestors.
Join us for a beginner’s introduction on how to start your family history research. We will cover tips and advice as well as the most popular resources available through Monash Public Library Service.

Civic Centre and Glen Waverley Library - public car park
Australia Day events at the Civic Centre and Library Forecourt will require some changed car parking conditions that will take effect from 4pm on Friday 25 January.
- Friday 25 January, from 4pm: Car park, including the bays adjacent to the library and IBIS building, will be closed to the public
- Saturday 26 January, 7am-3pm: Car park will be partially closed to the public
