The Colour of Desire

11 November 2017 | 03:00PM to 05:30PM

Seven female voices performing a repertoire that will shatter your perceptions of Indian classical and South Asian music forever.

Urban Layas is a group of South Indian classical musicians who are passionate about exploring forbidden musical territories in their own cultural backgrounds.

Their debut performance 'The Colour of Desire' explores music, dance and poetry around female desire, using the rich classical and folk traditions of South Asia.

Playing with both Western and South Asian music traditions, and also featuring guest performances by spoken word artist Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa, Kuchipudi dancer Shyama Sasidharan, visual artist Anindita Banerjee, and dancer and academic Dr. Priya Srinivasan, ‘The Colour of Desire’ defies conventional categories, and makes the classical contemporary in ways you’ve never seen before.

Urban Layas are donating all proceeds from the performance to feature documentary 'Geeta' to help complete the film.
