Australian Multicultural Education Services (AMES) has been delivering services to Victoria's culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities for over 50 years. Our vision is for full participation for all in a cohesive and diverse society. Oakleigh AMES offers English language, Literacy, Numeracy and Vocational training to eligible newly arrived migrants. In the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), learners study English for living and working in Australia. Classes range from Beginner to Intermediate and learners can gain a Certificate in Spoken & Written English upon completion of each level. AMEP students can also choose from a variety of study methods to make learning easier - including Day and Evening classes; Distance Learning, or at home with a tutor and learning materials. AMEP learners may also be eligible for additional vocational training and job seeking support through our Skills for Work program. These programs target key employment areas: Hospitality, Retail, Aged Care and Food Industry and inclue a 2 week practi al placement. Oakleigh AMES also provides programs under SEE (Skills for Education and Employment) funding. These programs target Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills for jobseekers, with a particular focus on employability and learning skills.
