Partnership - leadership

Leadership and partnerships are required to ensure staff have the awareness, information, capacity and confidence to deliver appropriate environmental outcomes through their work.

Establishing a whole of organisation approach to environmental sustainable leadership and creating a variety of partnerships will be integral in achieving the aims and objectives of the Environmental Sustainability Strategy 2016-2026 (PDF, 8MB).

Council’s vision for partnerships and leadership is outlined below.

Aims

  • Demonstrate strategic environmental sustainability leadership through commitment and action objectives
  • Build skill, capacity and partnerships to deliver this strategy

Objectives

  • Sustainability is integrated into Council decision-making processes
  • Develop and strengthen partnership

Council seeks input and feedback on environmental sustainability projects and issues from 12 community representatives and three Councillors through the Environmental Advisory Committee.

Examples of such partnerships include but are not limited to:

  • Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP)
  • Eastern Alliance for Greenhouse Action (EAGA)
  • LG Pro Behaviour Change Network (BCN)
  • Melbourne Water
  • Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group (MWRRG)
  • Monash University
  • Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV)
  • Parks Victoria
  • Port Phillip and Western Port Catchment Management Authority
  • Sustainability Victoria
  • University of Melbourne
