Free visits to schools

Monash Council offers a limited number of FREE presentations on environmental issues and sustainability to schools each term.

Topics include:

  • Energy - energy efficient measures for home and school
  • Biodiversity - our local environment and the effects of urbanisation
  • Sustainable cities - how we can make our cities more sustainable
  • Litter - the journey of litter and what’s the problem
  • Recycling - where do all your recycling items go?
  • Compost and worms - how compost and worm farms work

Sessions can be slightly tailored to meet the individual needs of the year level and school curriculum. Sessions are usually one hour long.

To discuss your options and book a session, please contact sustainability@monash.vic.gov.au.

              Other support

If you are interested in finding out more about infrastructure or support for your school, such as waste and recycling bins, worm farms and compost bins, or native plants for your school grounds, please contact sustainability@monash.vic.gov.au.

We also offer support to sustainability student leaders and green teams.

Teachers and interested parents can join our Monash and Boroondara Teachers Environment Network (TEN). The TEN meets once a term to network, learn about a particular sustainability topic and participate in professional development.
