What we do with your recycling

plastic recycling

We take your recycling to VISY's Springvale Material Recovery Facility for sorting and removal of contamination.

The majority of your recycling is manufactured into packaging for sale in Australia.

It goes on to a conveyer and it is sorted into different categories of glass, plastic etc. Each type of recyclable material goes into a separate bin and is bundled or bailed up.

The facility then sells the materials to manufacturing companies, who use machines to crush, shred, wash and melt the materials (reducing the need to use natural resources) so that it can be used to make new things, such as bottles, plastic garden furniture, new cans, packaging and recycled paper products.

Paper is pulped and heated into a liquid mass that is spread, rolled, dried and used to make recycled paper, cardboard and packaging.
