Word Fest 2025

Monash Public Library Service is thrilled to announce its 2025 WordFest program line-up.

WordFest is a FREE annual literature festival that unites readers and writers through author talks, writing workshops, and the Monash Short Story Writing Competition.

This year’s line-up provides numerous opportunities to engage with a wide range of exciting authors and speakers like Sharni Layton, Andrew Rule, Emelia Jackson, Jane Bunn, Joel Selwood, Cath Moore and Jacinta Parsons, providing attendees with a deep appreciation for the power of language and literature.

Talented comedian, actor and singer Michelle Brasier will launch this year’s event, discussing her new memoir, My Brother’s Ashes are in a Sandwich Bag, which was named one of Apple’s Best Books of 2024 and topped Audible’s list of top 10 memoirs.

With an update to the program, we also welcome Professor Katherine Biber, the acclaimed author of The Last Outlaw: An Insight into the DNA of the Australian Nation to present this year’s Sir John Monash Lecture.
