Report a lost pet

If your pet is missing:

  • Check Animal Aid's website. This has a list of animals that have been found, and you can also submit a report on your lost pet and find tips on what to do if you have lost your pet.
  • Phone Animal Aid on 8756 1300.
  • You can also contact local vet clinics.

Pets found during working hours

If your pet is lost, it may have been collected by our animal management officers.

If the microchip and registration contact information is up to date, and the animal has its lifetime tag on, we will try to reunite your cat or dog with you before it is taken to Animal Aid in Coldstream.

All cats or dogs that are not registered are taken to Animal Aid.

You can update your details, register an animal or request a new lifetime tag via Council at Animal Registration and Renewal.

Once the animal is at Animal Aid, staff will try to trace the owner through the animal’s microchip number and its Council registration tag.

Pets found after hours

Pets reported found outside of business hours, including on weekends and public holidays, will be collected and taken to Animal Aid.

Collecting lost pets

Owners can pick up their pets from Animal Aid Monday to Saturday, 9am-4.30pm, and Sundays and public holidays, 11.30am-3.30pm.

Please note, you must pick your pet up within 8 days.

When collecting a pet from Animal Aid, please bring valid photo identification, such as a driver’s licence or passport.

A pound release fee applies to all animals taken to the pound, which covers the cost of caring for your pet.

If your animal is not registered, it must be registered before it is released to you.

Council may issue fines for animals found wandering and/or unregistered.
