Why we have this strategy
A strong local economy benefits everyone. It supports local jobs, attracts investment, encourages innovation and helps create vibrant places where people can live, learn, work and play.
The strategy provides a roadmap for Council to plan, advocate and deliver initiatives that support businesses and create opportunities for residents.
Our vision
The City of Monash is a hub for future-focused industry, world-leading talent, research, and development. It is a productive local economy that is driven by an engaged and connected community, workforce, and business base.
Strategic themes
The strategy is structured around 4 themes and strategic areas of focus:
A City of Prosperity and Wellbeing
Supporting a liveable, inclusive and attractive municipality where residents, workers, businesses and visitors can thrive.
A City of Innovation and Collaboration
Strengthening connections between businesses, research institutions, industry and government to support innovation and economic growth.
A City of Investment
Attracting and supporting public and private investment that creates jobs and benefits the broader community.
A City of Active and Connected Places
Enhancing Monash's activity centres, employment precincts and public places to encourage business activity, visitation and investment.
The strategy includes an action plan that aligns with the City of Monash Council Plan 2025-2029 and the Monash Health and Wellbeing Plan 2025-2029.
