Nani Puspasari - The Shared School AIR

The residency program offers a unique creative space within Black Flat Community Centre where artists can gather, experiment and create.

The program is designed to support artists who are looking to:

  • Nurture cultural practices and lineages of making.
  • Explore intergenerational learning and knowledge exchange.
  • Bring people together through collective or community-engaged work.
  • Seek time, mentorship, and supportive networks to grow their practice.

The program has designated positions for artists who identify as belonging to Monash’ priority population groups including First Nations peoples, migrant and diaspora communities, people with disability, carers, older people, gender diverse and LGBTIQA+ communities and those who are financially vulnerable.

Residency program offering

  • Artists will receive $1500 stipend to invest in their practice.
  • 4-week shared access to studio space in Glen Waverley.
  • 3-week exclusive access to studio space.
  • Industry mentorship and guidance from an industry professional who is creatively aligned. 
  • A paid offering in the form of a gathering, workshop, artist talk, community activation, or work-in-progress showing.

Artist Residency Application

The program has designated positions for artists who identify as belonging to Monash’s priority population groups including First Nations peoples, migrant and diaspora communities, people with disability, carers, older people, LGBTIQA+ communities and those who are financially vulnerable.

It is not expected applicants meet all criteria, and we welcome applications to apply if you and your project relate only to one aspect mentioned above.
