We have changed our commercial waste service to match our residential service.
From 1 July 2026, our standard commercial waste service is:
- 1 x 240 litre landfill bin, collected fortnightly
- 1 x 240 litre recycling bin, collected fortnightly
Bins are no longer collected weekly or twice weekly.
Download the 2026–27 commercial waste calendar(PDF, 513KB) for your collection weeks.
If you do not have a recycling bin already, a new one will be delivered soon.
If you're changing to a private waste provider, look for an SMS from us with the date we'll remove your bin.
When to put your bins out
Collections are now on alternating weeks. For example:
- Week 1: Landfill bin collected
- Week 2: Recycling bin collected
- Week 3: Landfill bin collected
- Week 4: Recycling bin collected
Requesting extra bins
You can request a maximum of 1 additional landfill bin and 1 additional recycling bin for an annual fee. (Terms and conditions of service)
For 2026–27 the annual fees are:
- $748 for a landfill bin
- $76.75 for a recycling bin.

Paying for collections
From 1 July 2026, Council is introducing a separate waste charge for properties that use this service.
For most commercial properties, your Council rates will go down, and you will see a separate waste charge of $421 listed on your 2026-27 rates notice.
Annual fees for any extra bins will also appear on your rates notice.
If your property does not use Council's waste service, you will not receive the separate waste charge of $421. You will be charged the Public Waste Service Rate. This rate is paid by all commercial and residential properties to help cover the cost of managing illegally dumped rubbish and collection of public bins across Monash.
Use our calculator to estimate how these changes affect your 2026–27 rates.

Important: The fees and amounts used in the calculator are approximate. Final rates and the separate waste charge amount will be confirmed as part of Council's 2026–27 budget in May.
Change to a private waste collection service
Depending on how much rubbish you have, you may need to move to a private waste collection service.
Contact us if you are changing to a private provider, and we will adjust your 2026-27 rates notice.
Choosing a private waste service
If you decide to move to a private waste service, consider:
- Reliable and frequent collection schedules
- Transparent pricing and clear contracts
- Whether your business has space to store bins to ensure they are not tampered with, do not obstruct access, and do not create issues for neighbouring properties
- Recycling options
- Flexibility to meet your waste volumes
- Support with waste reduction or sustainability initiatives
You may also find it helpful to compare quotes or speak with nearby businesses about their provider or follow our advice about reducing waste in your business or workplace.
There is list of private waste service providers below.
Once you have confirmed a private waste service, let Council know so we can take you off our collection, arrange to pick up your bins as close as possible to your new service starting, and make sure you are no longer charged for Council's commercial waste services on your 2026–27 rates notice.
List of private waste providers
This alphabetical list is provided to help commercial businesses in the City of Monash identify private waste and recycling service providers. The list is a guide only and does not represent an endorsement by Monash Council.
Monash Council does not accept responsibility for the goods or services provided by any listed provider, or for any loss, damage, injury or inconvenience arising from reliance on this information.
While efforts were made to ensure accuracy at the time of publication, details supplied by external providers may change.
The amount and type of waste produced by your business will determine the size and number of bins required and the frequency of collection.
Businesses are encouraged to assess their operational needs and consult directly with prospective providers to ensure they can meet waste, recycling or specialist disposal requirements.
Trim Your Bin program
We are starting a FREE pilot waste reduction program for businesses looking to reduce their waste, lower costs and divert material from landfill.
The Trim Your Bin program assists businesses that want to reduce the amount of waste they generate. Businesses can register their interest in Trim Your Bin and a member of our team will be in touch to discuss next steps. As this is a pilot, there are a limited number of spaces available.
