Concessions on your rates

You can apply to have up to $465.10 deducted from your rates notice if you hold an eligible concession card. You can also receive an automatic Safety Net concession if your property is valued below a certain amount.

Important: Concessions and rebates do not apply to investment properties.

Available concessions

From the Victorian Government:

  • Up to $272.70 off general ratles (maximum 50% concession)
  • $50 concession on the Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund Levy.

From Council:

  • $142.40 concession (40% on the separate waste charge)
  • Automatic $150 Safety Net concession on the separate waste charge for eligible properties (no application required).

You will get an automatic Safety Net concession if you own and live in a property valued at less than $600,000 (shown as the Capital Improved Value on your rates notice). We assess eligibility using Council records as at 1 July each financial year.

You need to apply for all concessions except the Safety Net concession, which is automatically applied to your rates if you're eligible.

You can apply if you hold one of these cards:

  • Pensioner Concession Card
  • Veterans Affairs Gold Card (TPI and War Widow or Widower).

You cannot apply with:

  • Health Care Card
