We’re building a new Glen Waverley Library, with new event and meeting spaces and outdoor areas, in the heart of Glen Waverley – just off busy Kingsway.

Community event, meeting and gathering spaces, including indoor and outdoor areas

In June we appointed Kane Constructions to deliver this project, following a competitive tendering process. Site works will get underway in August.

Maintaining library services in Glen Waverley

While construction is underway, we’ve set-up nearby temporary sites to maintain library services in Glen Waverley. For information about what is available at these sites and our other library locations, visit our libraries website.

What you can expect during construction

Fencing and site hoarding around work areas
Construction noise
Changes to pedestrian or vehicle access.

Most works can be delivered without major disruption to Kingsway, and we will keep nearby residents and businesses informed.

There will be some loss of parking in the immediate area during construction, but our nearby Bogong Car Park has more than 1,000 parking spaces available and capacity to absorb this short-term loss.

Why this project matters

Glen Waverley will change and grow over the coming years, with housing growth across Monash and development associated with the Suburban Rail Loop expected to place more pressure on local community infrastructure.

The Glen Waverley Civic Precinct project will help meet that growth by delivering a larger, more contemporary library and flexible spaces for learning, events, meetings and community use.

It will strengthen Glen Waverley’s civic and cultural heart, support community connection, and create a welcoming destination designed for long-term growth.
