Wellesley Road Reserve's unique playspace is the first of its kind in Monash, with a sensory play experience designed to engage children with additional needs.

There are accessible pathways with different artworks and textures, sound sculptures, a wavy mirror and seated spinner, plus a sensory garden trail to complement the traditional play pieces.

It also has a picnic table, bench seating, drinking fountain and grassed area - perfect for an outing.

Accessibility

This playspace features an access keysocial story and and on-site communication boards created in partnership with Access Ability Australia. These resources help people of all abilities access the playspace.

Access key

The access key is a customised accessibility guide that provides convenient information about Wellesley Road Reserve playspace (such as parking, layout, equipment and dimensions) so you can prepare before your visit. It is universally designed and suitable for all abilities.

Social story

The social story  is an illustrated story about the playspace that can be read before a visit to help people prepare for the experience.

It is suitable for people with autism spectrum disorder, a language disorder, social communication difficulties and/or a cognitive delay/disability.

Communication board

The communication board is a large sign installed at the playspace that helps people to express their wants, needs and experiences using pictures.

Visitors can point to different the pictures and symbols on the sign to make requests, ask questions, express needs, comment on activities and share the fun!
