Andy McGarvie: Paul Simon - Live at The Count's
A modern troubadour, Andy McGarvie has spent the last two decades as a hired-gun guitar player, an in-demand front-person and a respected music educator both here in Melbourne and also in London.
A Monash University alumni, McGarvie has been a finalist in the Vanda and Young Songwriters competition, as well as Melbourne Blues Society’s Performer of the Year. A regular in Melbourne’s Blues Roulette collective and a familiar face at the Melbourne Guitar Festival, he has released two full length albums and two EPs under his own name, as well as playing on countless other records and soundtracks.
McGarvie credits Paul Simon’s Graceland both as one of his earliest musical memories, as well as one of his favourite albums of all time. This opened up a great passion for the songwriter’s back catalogue – which he thought deserved the full live tribute treatment! With a full 10-piece band, McGarvie will pay homage to some of the biggest Paul Simon hits from Simon and Garfunkel through to Simon’s solo career.
