Singh and Blanes: Live at The Count’s
Next date: Wednesday, 01 October 2025 | 07:30 PM
Singh and Blanes make old-school love duets at their most luminous and lovely. Between traditional Indian music, vintage romance ballads, and a touch of jazz elegance, Singh and Blanes is a rare language.
Two of Melbourne’s finest performers bring their contrasting musical and cultural lineages together to sing a love story of duets, captured beautifully on their debut album I Choose You (Pound Records). Whilst paying homage to the romantic duets of the 1930s and ’40s, Singh and Blanes give the style their own relatable modern twist—lyrically traversing today’s more complicated emotional terrain with grace and originality.
Parvyn Singh, a classically trained traditional Indian vocalist, dancer and musician, was ARIA-nominated for her debut solo record Sa (2022). She is known for her role as the ‘Mysterious Lady’ in the internationally acclaimed group The Bombay Royale.
Jazz and classical pianist, composer and vocalist Hue Blanes, recipient of the PBS Young Elder of Jazz Award (2017), is renowned for his elegant musicianship and charismatic performances. His background in jazz brings a subtle improvisational sensibility to the duo’s sound.
Featuring Blanes on vocals, piano and harmonium, and Singh on vocals and sitar, hear dream-like songs that drift between Indian tradition, old-school ballads and understated jazz textures—reminiscent of a time forgot.
