T2-Qigong

Qigong is a mind-body movement practice that incorporates breath, movement, meditation and self-massage.

It's whose origins lie in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Taoist philosophy. “Qi” means “vital energy” and “gong” translates to “skill".

The practice combines slow, deliberate movements with the breath which can be done standing or seated. It is an excellent movement activity for every body, including seniors, people with health conditions or those recovering from illness and injury.

In this 8-week program, you will be introduced to the foundations of Qigong, and progressively learn and practice a set routine called The 18 Forms (Shibashi). The movements are simple, relaxing and mindful, performed in a flowing, rhythmic manner which enables us to develop a mind-body connection and promote full body health.

While the practice is not high-intensity, studies have shown Qigong to help improve circulation, balance and coordination, reduce stress and tension which leads to calm minds and relaxed bodies. There are benefits from the gentle stretching, as well as strengthening joints, tendons and muscles.

Qigong helps your overall health and vitality, develops calm and creative minds, improves your breathing and range of movement whilst enhancing the awareness and connection between ourselves and the natural world.

This is an extremely accessible form of exercise suitable for all ages.
