Playspace upgrades coming to Monash reserves

Monash is investing in better outdoor spaces for our community, with $3 million in Council's 2026/27 budget for new playspaces at:
- Princes Highway Reserve in Oakleigh East
- Gladeswood Reserve in Mulgrave
- Queens Parade Reserve in Ashwood.
The upgrades are supported by $678,650 from round one of the Victorian Government's Pick My Park program.
Princes Highway Reserve, Oakleigh East
What's coming
Princes Highway Reserve will be upgraded into a large, district-level playspace designed for a wide range of ages and abilities.
The upgrade will include:

Gladeswood Reserve, Mulgrave
What’s coming this year
Gladeswood Reserve playspace will be relocated to the southern area of the reserve and expanded into a district-level playspace for all ages and abilities with:
- An inclusive and accessible playspace
- A dedicated toddler area
- Shaded areas
- Sustainable landscaping
- A nature play trail and forest area for informal play

Sensory play elements
What will be delivered in future stages
To deliver the highest-priority improvements now, some elements shared in the draft concept design will be delivered in future stages instead of this year.
These include:
- BBQ facilities
- Shelter
- Fitness hub
- Multi-sport court

These elements will be considered in future Council budget processes, and we will continue to explore other funding opportunities.

Queens Parade Reserve, Ashwood

Queens Parade Reserve will be upgraded into a local-level playspace for nearby families, with a focus on younger children. It includes:

Local residents will receive updates, including letters, closer to the start of construction on any impacts.
