Monash Libraries' school holiday program is packed with activities, from creative workshops and interactive performances to games and storytelling sessions.

Some highlights include:

  • Chess Champions at Mulgrave Library
  • Kamishibai Storytelling at Clayton Library
  • Laugh Your Socks Off at Glen Waverley Children's Library

Bookings open Monday 14 September at 10am.

Storytimes for little ones

Free, no bookings required

Library storytime sessions are a great way to support your child's literacy and group learning. These sessions are best suited to children aged 1-5 years, however older children are welcome.

Visit the library events page, and filter for "Storytime" under "All Categories".

Make an artwork for Monash Youth Art Exhibition

Free, bookings required for exhibition

Celebrate the creativity and talent of young artists at this exciting showcase of original artworks.

If you're aged 12–25, you can also submit up to 3 artworks for the exhibition, and go into the draw for prizes. Submissions close 21 September.

Exhibition date: Monday 28 September, 5.30pm – 7.30pm
Location: Level 1, 2 Euneva Avenue, Glen Waverley
Ages: 12–25 years for submissions, all ages welcome at exhibition

Get creative at Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh)

This art workshop encourages young people to look at what makes an image or object boring, and how to transform it into an extraordinary creation using colour, texture, contrast and imagination.

Date: Saturday 3 October, 1pm – 2.30pm

Make a splash with fun pool activities

Casual fees apply for centre entrance

Looking for an easy day out? Head to Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre for extra school holiday fun in the pool.

Inflatable Log Runner

Balance, climb and crawl your way across this inflatable obstacle course.

Available 12pm – 3pm on:

  • Tuesday 22 September
  • Thursday 24 September
  • Tuesday 29 September
  • Thursday 1 October

The popular Wave Pool will also be operating on weekdays from 9am to 5pm, with waves running on the quarter hour.

Children must be able to completely swim 11 metres in deep water to participate on the Log Runner. Staff members will check swimming skills in deep water prior to this activity. 

Children under the age of 10 must be within arm's reach in the Wave Pool when waves are running. Guardians are to accompany a maximum of 2 children (under 10) each.

School Holiday Express Swim Program

Paid program

The School Holiday Express Swim Program offers consecutive days of lessons in smaller classes, giving children more opportunities to improve their swimming skills, progress faster and build confidence in the water.

Bookings are essential and places are limited.

Dates:

  • Week 1: Monday 21 September – Thursday 24 September (4 days due to public holiday)
  • Week 2: Monday 28 September – Friday 2 October

Locations: Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre, Glen Waverley and Clayton Health and Aquatics Club, Clayton
Ages: Learn-to-swim levels vary
