1. Has the council been in discussions with the SRL project team to explore possible adjustments to road closures or construction schedules in order to minimize the impact on businesses?
2. Is the council considering temporary parking solutions to mitigate the loss of parking spaces on Kingsway?
3. Will the council provide any rent relief, financial subsidies, or other forms of economic support?
4. Will the council consider reducing business rates or municipal fees for affected businesses to ease their financial burden?

Response

The Suburban Rail Loop has the potential to be a gamechanger for Monash’s transport connection to the rest of Melbourne. 

Council staff are in regular discussion with the SRL project team to work with them to identify support options and explore construction methods to limit the impact on our local businesses. In particular, we hope construction on Railway Parade North can be completed as soon as possible so that it can re-open to traffic.

We understand the importance of car parking in Glen Waverley and our Bogong Car Park is in the final stages of construction to double its capacity from 500 to over 1,000. This will re-open in the coming weeks and provide welcome additional parking capacity.

Given the SRL is a Victorian Government project, questions about compensation should be directed to the Suburban Rail Loop Authority.
