This page explains what’s changing and what businesses on Council's commercial waste service need to do.

Please note, businesses that haven't told us they're moving to a private provider will be moved across to this service.

At a glance

  • New yellow recycling bin starts rolling out from 23 June 2026.
  • Landfill bin lids changed to red lids from 23 June 2026.
  • Fortnightly collections for landfill and recycling from 1 July 2026.
  • No more weekly or twice-weekly services from 1 July 2026.

What's happening

From 1 July 2026, Council's standard commercial waste service will include:

  • 1 × 240L landfill bin (red lid), collected fortnightly
  • 1 × 240L recycling bin (yellow lid), collected fortnightly.

Weekly and twice-weekly collections will no longer be available.

If you don't currently have a recycling bin, we'll deliver a yellow bin to your business address.

Your landfill bin lid will be updated to a red lid to match standard services.

What businesses need to do

1. For your landfill bin

  • Leave it out on collection day for up to 48 hours
  • Bring it in after the lid has been changed.

2. When your recycling bin arrives

  • Check the sticker on the bin to make sure it matches your address.
  • Bring it onto your property as soon as possible.

3. Before 1 July

  • Check your alternating collection weeks on the commercial waste calendar.
  • Start separating recycling from landfill.

Who will receive a recycling bin

You'll get a yellow recycling bin if you:

  • are staying with Council's commercial waste service
  • don't already have a recycling bin
  • haven't told us you're moving to a private provider.

Changes to how often your bins are collected

From 1 July, landfill and recycling bins will be collected on alternating weeks.

This means one week you'll put out the landfill bin, and the next week you'll put out the recycling bin.
