Social Media House Rules

Monash Council has an active presence Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube and the below house roles outline how we will monitor and moderate these channels.

Social media house rules

By engaging with Monash Council’s social media channels, you are accepting our social media house rules.

We encourage you to ask us questions, have discussions and share your thoughts – our team will answer your question or respond where we can.

To ensure our channels are a welcoming and safe place for everyone, please be respectful of other people using these channels. We will delete comments that break these house rules.

  • Do not post personal or confidential information, including addresses and phone numbers. If you need to send us personal or sensitive information, do so via direct message. This includes images and video that identifies a property or vehicle.
  • Do not post or upload any indecent, defamatory, obscene, misleading, slanderous or unlawful material about Monash Council, its services or its people, or that violates the legal rights of others.
  • Do not post comments that are defamatory, discriminatory, abusive, threatening or offensive.
  • Do not bully, harass or troll anyone – this includes deliberately disruptive conversations.
  • Comments must relate to the topic of original post. Repetitive messaging will be deleted.
  • Do not promote commercial interests.
  • Do not post material that may breach the intellectual property rights of others.
  • Do not post malicious software or files, or indecent or graphic images.
  • Do not spread misinformation or post comments that are deliberately inaccurate or misleading.
  • Do not violate the terms of use on the channel you are posting

Bans

Continuous breaching of our house rules may lead to a ban. If your account has been banned and you would like a review, please contact us.

Direct messages

Our team respond to direct messages via Messenger between 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, not including public holidays.

If something requires immediate attention, contact our customer service team directly.

For emergency situations, call 000.

Opinions and accuracy of information

Comments on our social media channels do not represent the opinions of Monash Council nor can we confirm their accuracy.

Local businesses

We may mention or tag a local business or organisation on our social media channels. This is not to be viewed as a formal endorsement in any way.
