Albany Drive Reserve playspace March 2026

Families with young children who live near Albany Drive Reserve have a new playspace where they can play, connect and enjoy the outdoors – just in time for the school holidays!

The pocket playspace in Mulgrave has reopened, with new equipment that encourages toddlers and preschoolers to climb, swing, balance and play together. There's also comfortable seating and accessible paths for caregivers.

New equipment

The playspace's new equipment includes:

  • a play unit with slides, climbing elements, and cubby wall for social play
  • double swings, including a nest swing where young children can sit together
  • a spinner
  • balance steppers
  • path markings for hopscotch and balance games
  • more nature play areas to complement the existing bush kinder on site
  • new seating
  • an accessible concrete path.

The playspace was shaped by local voices, with children from Albany Rise Primary School sharing ideas during community consultation in 2024 to help guide the final design.

What is a pocket playspace?

As a pocket-level playspace, Albany Drive Reserve supports short, frequent visits for families with young children living nearby. This type of smaller playspace complements larger nearby playgrounds that cater for older children.

Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback. Your ideas helped create a playspace the local community can enjoy.
