Why wasn't my hard waste collected?

Hard waste collection on a nature strip

Hard waste collections for eligible properties in Monash run from 13 July to 4 September.

During your collection week, there are a few reasons why your hard waste items might still be on your nature strip.

We couldn't collect your item(s)

Check your letterbox for a collection notice.

If a collection truck has left an item behind, you'll receive a collection notice in your letterbox explaining why.

Common reasons include:

  • The item isn't accepted in the hard waste collection.
  • The item wasn't prepared correctly for collection.

What to do: Follow the instructions on the collection notice, which will explain what you need to do next. See what we can and can't collect

The collection deadline has passed

Items must be put out by 6am on the Monday of your collection week.

If items were placed out after this time, the collection truck may have already visited your property.

What to do: Check your collection date

Some items are collected later in the week

Different trucks collect different types of items.

For example, mattresses, metals and green waste may all be collected by separate trucks on different days.

What to do: If it's an accepted item, wait until your collection week has finished. If they still haven't been collected by then, call 03 9518 3555 for assistance.

Your property isn't eligible

Your property may not be eligible for hard waste collection if you live in:

  • an apartment
  • aged care
  • rooming house or prescribed accommodation
  • a commercial property
  • other multi-unit dwellings.

What to do: Check with your building manager or body corporate if your property has Council hard waste collection or alternative hard waste arrangements. If your property isn't eligible, please remove the items within 24 hours.
