From Monday 21 July to Friday 25 July JWS Research will be conducting a phone survey on behalf of Council to seek feedback on a proposal to introduce a waste charge.

The cost of managing waste is rising much faster than council rates.
Monash is the only council in Victoria that hasn’t introduced a separate waste charge. But to keep delivering the high-quality services our community relies on, we need to make a change. That’s why we’re proposing to introduce a separate waste charge on rates notices from July 2026.
This means Council rates will go down, and a separate charge will be added for properties that use our waste and recycling services. Pensioner Concession Card holders will receive a 40% discount, and we will also have a safety net for anyone who may need support during this change.
More information about what this means and how you can have your say will be included with your rates notice, which will be with Monash ratepayers in mid-July.
You can also visit Shape Monash to learn more, provide feedback and see details of our listening posts where you can talk to our team in-person.
