BABIRRA Music Theatre Inc. is a non-professional music theatre company committed to excellence in musical theatre. Our group formed in 1956.
We mostly perform two full-scale musicals a year, such as 'The Producers' and 'Mamma Mia!'
Babirra provides quality entertainment at economical prices, for the mutual enjoyment of audiences and participants. Our company also gives opportunities for community members to be involved in all aspects of production, both on-stage and off-stage. We welcome new volunteers to contact the secretary from our website.
Babirra rehearses at the Highfield Road Uniting Church, Canterbury, stores and makes our costumes and sets at Fleigner Hall, East Oakleigh and currently performs at the Karralyka Theatre, Ringwood, Victoria.
Our company has been a springboard for many successful careers in Performance, Scenic Design, Lighting and Staging.
We are members of the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria and the Lyrebird Awards. We have won three 'Best Production' awards along with many other awards over the years.
