Monash’s Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) Policy guides the design and development of Council buildings and infrastructure to meet high environmental standards. This includes:

  • Passive design principles (e.g. shading, orientation, ventilation)
  • Reduced gas use and improved insulation
  • Lower energy and water consumption
  • Minimised stormwater impact and urban heat island effect

The policy aligns with the Monash Planning Scheme and guides future developments to reduce environmental impact throughout their lifecycle.
