Registrations are now open for Biketober, the free nationwide cycling challenge running throughout October.

Riders of all ages and abilities are encouraged to sign up to get active outdoors while exploring local bike paths and tracks.

You can ride on your own or register under 'City of Monash', your school or community group, and enjoy some friendly competition through local, national and industry leaderboards.

Using the Love to Ride app you can invite friends, track your rides, build streaks, monitor your progress, and share feedback on how safe and comfortable routes feel when riding.

By rating your routes and sharing your experience, you'll help us better understand how our cycling networks are used so we can identify opportunities to improve connectivity, safety and accessibility for riders.

You'll also be helping to reduce traffic congestion, lower carbon emissions, and contribute to a healthier, more connected Monash.

Schools can also get involved through the Biketober Schools Challenge which will run from 5-31 October.

This fun, friendly competition encourages students, parents, and staff to travel actively to school by walking, riding, scooting, or taking public transport.

Schools and classes compete to see who can get the most students travelling actively, helping build healthy habits and creating safer, less congested school communities.

Schools can learn more and download resources to get biking at the Biketober Schools Challenge web page.
