Keeping Mount Waverley’s Valley Conservation Reserve green and clean

We’re about to start work on installing a new gross pollutant trap in Mount Waverley’s Valley Conservation Reserve.

The new trap will reduce the amount of litter and sediment that moves downstream, including sediment that reaches the Regent Street weir. It will also improve the quality of water flowing into the wetlands by capturing hydrocarbons, suspended solids, oil and grease.

We’ll start installing the new trap on 6 July and expect works to be completed by early-August. Work hours will be 7am - 6pm on weekdays.

What will we be doing?

• Installation of temporary fencing and path diversions.
• Construction of an access track using crushed rock, to enable an excavator to reach the location of the new litter trap.
• Installation of the new litter trap.
• Reconstruction of the existing vehicle crossing.

What might impact you?

• The works will not have an impact on access to residential properties.
• Traffic management will be in place to slow and guide vehicles past the work site and to allow the safe movement of heavy machinery and trucks.
• Access to Valley Reserve will not be available from Waimarie Drive, with pedestrian detours in place.
• Trees around the worksite will be protected during the works.
