Monash middle years survey for ages 8-13

Published on 06 November 2026

A group of children gathered closely together outdoors on a sunny day.

Ages 8-13 are an important time in a young person's life, full of friendships, exploring interests, transitioning to high school and developing their independence and sense of identity.

We're inviting young people aged 8-13 to share their feelings and experiences, to help us better understand how youth services can support their needs.

The questions have been designed with young people to make sure they’re relevant, engaging and age-appropriate.

If you're a parent, guardian or carer, please encourage your child to share their voice and have a say!

Survey closes Monday 30 November 2026.

The survey takes less than 15 minutes to complete. All answers are confidential.

What is the survey about?

The survey explores how they feel about school, friendships, wellbeing support networks, wellbeing, activities and online experiences.

The questions have been designed with young people to make sure they’re relevant, engaging and age appropriate.

Is this related to the Monash Youth Survey?

Yes. We're doing the Monash Youth Survey a little differently this year. Instead of one survey for all ages, there are 3 separate age-appropriate surveys delivered at different times of the year.

  • Phase 1 (completed): 14–19-year-olds
  • Phase 2 (now): 8–13-year-olds
  • Phase 3 (early 2027): 20–25-year-olds.

Together, all phases will feed into a single Youth Consultation Report that guides how Monash Youth Services supports young people.
