Did you know unwrapped glass and unbundled green waste are the top 2 reasons hard waste items get left behind?

Hard waste collections for eligible properties in Monash run from 13 July to 4 September.

If your property is eligible, make sure we can collect your hard waste by:

Look for instructions in your hard waste flyer, delivered 2 weeks before your collection date, or on the annual hard waste collection page.

Top reasons we can't collect hard waste

The items below are the most common reasons why hard waste has been left behind so far.

 Items we can't collect What to do with it instead
Unwrapped glass and ceramics Wrap glass and ceramics (in fabric or cardboard) and clearly label them
Unbundled green waste Tie green waste into bundles using natural twine
Paint  Remove from hard waste. Drop off for free at Monash Recycling & Waste Centre
Gas bottle and fire extinguishers Remove from hard waste. Follow advice from the Victorian Government 
General rubbish (bagged waste), recyclables, food Remove from hard waste. Put in your household bins.
Household chemicals  Remove from hard waste. Safely dispose at Detox Your Home

 

In most cases, items are left behind because they aren't prepared correctly or can't be collected through the annual hard waste service.

Some items are also collected by different trucks on different days.
