VLGA awards - November 25

Monash Council has received the Victorian Local Governance Association’s (VLGA) Gender Equality Council Champion Award.

The award recognises our long-term action on gender equality and reflects the evidence-based work of our teams and the community groups and organisations we work with to create change.

We are proud to work in primary prevention and delivering projects that bring together other councils and community stakeholders to promote gender equity and prevent violence against women. These include:

This work has improved education and driven cultural and behavioural change both in our community and within council. For our own staff, that means confidence in using shared and respectful language, and the use of Gender Impact Assessments on programs, policies or services that will impact our community.

This award is part of the inaugural Mary Rogers awards, delivered in partnership between the VLGA and the Victorian Government.

Council will continue to advance gender equality through evidence-based practice and community engagement.
