306 Army Cadet Unit (Monash)

Exercise Emu 2026 - September 20-26

Why join the Australian Army Cadets?

There are plenty of reasons to join! From adventure and outdoor activities to making new friends, the Australian Army Cadets (AAC) offers young people the chance to try something different in a military setting.

At 306 Army Cadet Unit (Monash), activities include navigation, fieldcraft, first aid, drill, field engineering and camps.

As a cadet, you'll learn to be confident, self-sufficient and willing to ‘have a go’. It's your opportunity to discover new challenges and have some unbelievable fun.

You'll also learn to lead others and work as a member of a team. You'll be able to do things for yourself and help your friends learn too.

Cadet life involves physical challenges, but you don't have to be a superwoman or superman to get involved. Qualified and experienced cadet staff will guide you, with activities planned and supervised to manage risks. Safety is always a top priority.

Australian Army Cadets and Cadet staff come from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences. All are committed to providing and enjoying a positive and safe youth development experience, respecting the value and dignity of all people, and recognising the particular rights and needs of young people.

Army Cadets aim to be inclusive of all young people and staff, including those with disabilities, health conditions and allergies. All reasonable steps will be taken to support participation where individual circumstances require special consideration, while maintaining the safety and cadet experience of everyone involved.

Who can join?

Young people can join in the year they turn 13. Those joining at age 12 must already be attending high school and turning 13 that calendar year. Once enrolled, cadets may remain until the end of the year in which they turn 18.
