Overview

You can apply for an accessible parking permit as an individual or organisation.

All applicants need to apply through the Victorian Government's Accessible Parking Permits website. It's free to apply.

If you live in the City of Monash, your completed application will be sent to us to review. We'll let you know the outcome.

Types of permit

There are 3 types of accessible parking permit:

  • Australian Disability Parking Permit for individuals
  • Australian Disability Parking Permit for organisations
  • Double Time Permit.

Australian Disability Parking Permits can be used Australia wide, but Double Time Permits are only valid in Victoria.

Eligibility

Eligibility criteria for both individuals and organisations are on the Victorian Government's Accessible Parking Permits website.

Your eligibility for different permit types will be assessed as part of your application.

Individual permits

To apply for a new permit or renew an existing one, use the Victorian Government's Accessible Parking Permits website.

After you submit, you'll receive a text message with your application reference.

You'll then need to:

  • Take your application reference to your GP or occupational therapist
  • They'll complete a functional assessment and finalise your application
  • Your application will then be sent to us to review.

Allow 10 to 15 days for your permit to be processed.

Organisation permits

To apply for a new permit or renew an existing one, use the Victorian Government's Accessible Parking Permits website.

You can apply for 1 permit for each driver or vehicle in your organisation, whichever number is lower.

For example, if you have 5 drivers and 2 vehicles, you can apply for 2 permits.

After you submit, your application will be sent to us to review.

Allow 10 to 15 days for your permit to be processed.

Apply using a paper form

You can use a paper form to apply, if you prefer.

  • a statutory declaration or police report (for stolen permits).

Replacement permits have to be collected in-person from Council.

After you apply

After we receive your application, we'll check it against any duplicate permits or previously cancelled permits.

We'll then let you know the outcome of your application by mail.

Receiving your permit

How you get your permit depends on your application type.

  • New or renewed permits: If approved, you can choose to collect your permit from Monash Civic Centre or have it mailed to you.
  • Replacement permits: Must be collected from Council. They cannot be mailed.
