Trader Parking Permits

Overview

You are eligible to apply for a trader parking permit if your business is located and operated within an activity centre with restricted parking.

To be eligible you must also:

  • Have a registered ABN, business name, or company
  • Have a licence, registration or other required approval for your business type
  • Show your business is located and operated in a commercial zone
  • Be authorised to make an application on behalf of the business.

You are not eligible if:

  • Your business is not located in an activity centre with restricted parking
  • Your business is located in a residential zone
  • You can't prove that your business is located and operated in a commercial zone
  • You occupy or own a dwelling located above a business in a commercial zone
  • You do not have a registered ABN, business name, or company
  • You can't prove that you have a licence, registration or other required approval for your business type
  • You are not authorised to apply on behalf of the business.

Important: If you provide incorrect or false information in your application, any permit we issue based on that information may be invalid.

Restricted parking locations

Important: Some activity centres have a limit on the number of permits a business can hold. Where no permit limit is listed, you can apply for the number of permits as you need. Applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Approval is not guaranteed.

The following activity centres have restricted parking:

Ashwood

Up to 2 permits per business:

  • Arthur Street
  • Yertchuck Avenue

Chadstone

Up to 2 permits per business:

  • Cabena Crescent
  • Warrigal Road off-street car park

Clayton

Up to 2 permits per business:

  • Glenbrook Ave off-street car park

No permit limit in place:

  • Cambro Road
  • Renver Road
  • Sarton Road
  • Clayton trader parking

Glen Waverley

Up to 2 permits per business:

  • Hampshire Road

No permit limit in place:

  • Monash Church of Christ
  • Glen Waverley trader parking

Hughesdale

Up to 2 permits per business:

  • Euston Road off-street car park

Mount Waverley

1 permit per business:

  • Larch Crescent off-street car park

2 permits per business:

  • Waverley Road off-street car park

No permit limit in place:

  • Mount Waverley trader parking

Oakleigh

1 permit per business:

  • Haughton Road

No permit limit in place:

  • Oakleigh trader parking

Apply for a new permit

To apply for a new trader parking permit:

  1. Complete the Trader Parking Permit Application Form(PDF, 266KB)
  2. Submit your completed form online or at a Customer Service Centre.

Important: Parking spaces are limited in some activity centres. Permit availability is not guaranteed.

Renew your permit

All trader parking permits expire on 30 September each year.

Once you've applied to renew your permit, you can continue using your current permit until the new one arrives.

Permits that expire on 30 September will be valid until 31 October.

Request additional permits

If a staff member leaves your business, their permit must be returned to you and then issued to the new staff member:

  • You must contact us within 7 days of reissuing the permit
  • Email the new staff member's details to mail@monash.vic.gov.au
  • Include your current permit number in the email.

Lost permits

If you have lost your trader parking permit, complete a statutory declaration and submit it to Council.

We can then issue a replacement permit.
