Golf course tee marker update
We have updated golf course tee markers at Glen Waverley Sports Hub and Oakleigh Golf Course to a skill-based system so players can enjoy the game based on their preferred distance or skill level.
Why transition?
Meet industry standards: The new tee marker system aligns our golf courses with recommendations from Golf Australia, and the Victorian Government’s Gender Equality Act 2020 and Fair Access Policy Roadmap.
Enhance player experience: Moving to long course tees and short course tees means players can match up with their preferred tee distance rather than their gender, giving them more flexibility and creating a more welcoming space for a diverse range of players, skill levels and all-abilities participants.
What is changing
The current red and blue tees has been replaced with a skills-based tee system with new names and colours:
- Long course tees (orange): designed for those seeking a challenging yet manageable course length, suitable for intermediate players.
- Short course tees (yellow): tailored for players who want a shorter course to enhance enjoyment and recreational play.
- Competition tees (purple):for players participating in club competition at the course.
We've updated the tee markers, scorecards and noticeboards to reflect these changes. If you have any questions, please talk to staff at the course's pro shop.
The new system was rolled out in October and November 2025.
To ensure a smooth transition, golf club members and visitors were informed in early 2025, and provided clear information, including signs at the course and updates online.
