LED Street Light Upgrade

In 2018 public lighting accounted for 17.6% of Council’s emissions.

We have now upgraded more than 2,500 main streetlights to energy-efficient LEDs.

Cutting energy use by up to 82%, enhancing pedestrian safety, and reducing light spill to better protect local wildlife.  

Up to 98% of old light components were also recycled, including glass, aluminium, steel, and copper.
