Climate Resilience Plan 2026–2030

The plan outlines how we will work with our community to respond to the impacts of a changing climate, future-proof our places and spaces, and continue to reduce emissions.

It builds on our 2025 net zero milestone and the strong foundations already in place for emissions reduction, increased renewable energy use and community uptake of all electric.

Key priority areas

  • Protecting and enhancing our spaces and places
  • Designing climate resilient assets and services
  • Continued reduction of greenhouse gas emissions
  • Community education, awareness and support around climate resilience and how to act.
  • Strong governance and partnerships for a coordinated response to climate impacts.

This plan responds to increasing climate hazards already being experienced across Monash, including more frequent and intense heatwaves, warmer nights, severe storms and flooding, which impact both the community and Council services.

It will ensure Monash is better prepared to adapt and thrive in a changing climate.
